We’re populated by 6 generations of mostly weak humans

A college football team canceled its season in 2023, and here’s why . . .

The last generation of humans who were selfless & strong were the Greatest Generation. This was the generation born between appx 1900 & 1927. There’s always dissention on the beginning & end of generational eras, so this is a broad span as some believe it started either 1900 or 1901 & ended between 1925 & 1927.

This generation are the ones who grew up in the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties & experienced the Great Depression in their childhood & early adult years. They were grateful to have anything, as many families were dirt-poor during the 1930s & into the early 1940’s. Many lost their life savings, homes, farms, and didn’t have food. Unemployment was at 25% in 1932, the peak of the Depression. Banks & companies were failing at an incredible rate and there were no government lifelines such as FDIC (which was formed as a result), unemployment compensation, Social Security. Medicare/Medicaid or disability insurance. People were left to fend for themselves.

But they persevered and worked hard to stay above water, and this tough-as-nails generation joined the military in 1941-45 to win World War 2. Can you imagine today’s young adults going to war & leaving college or lucrative careers behind? We’re talking about young people who were the first ones to wear masks during COVID even though they had virtually no risk of death from it, and who get their feelings hurt extremely easily.

The Greatest Generation also created the post-war Baby Boom & moved our country forward & upwards. Unfortunately, they had it so good that they showered their kids with too much goodness as they didn’t want them to experience the pain & longing they experienced in their younger years during the Depression & the horrors of war. They created soft narcissistic kids, but their Boomer kids weren’t too far removed from their parents’ ideals. They used drugs, listened to subversive music, publicly expressed their thoughts & fought the government & their parents teachings, but as they matured, they became somewhat better role models.

Also partly to blame is the Silent Generation, which was born between 1928 & 1945. This generation didn’t serve in WW2, although many did serve in Korea. They were the leaders of counterculture events such as Vietnam war protests, societal drug proliferation, the Me Generation of the 70s, and they helped create the subversive music to which Boomer kids listened. They also contributed to the latter stages of the Baby Boom & created Gen X & raised more narcissistic pampered kids. At least they kept a miserly outlook on life having been kids during the Depression & losing their dads in WW2.

The Boomers then in turn raised even softer kids & spoiled them, creating spoiled brats who became Gen X & Millennials, and those kids in turn created even softer Gen Z & Gen A kids by hovering over them like sheep. These are the generations who can’t take a joke, need to be liked & told they’re special by their family & friends, crave the spotlight, refuse to put in effort to practice a talent, can’t stand losing or being told they’re wrong, can’t stand emotional pain, don’t like working for a living or giving much effort to it, and need to recongized as a winner even when they don’t win, which is why the Participation Trophy was created.

We go from this background build-up to a real-life scenario where a small college football team in Louisiana called Northwestern State decided to cancel its 2023 season because a teammate was killed due to gun violence during the season. The team was winless, which didn’t help when it comes to a generation of kids who can’t stand losing or dealing with adversity & the truth, which is that life is rough & tough sometimes, and you’re supposed to fight & handle it & move forward.

Never in the history of college football had a team canceled its season because 1 member of its team died. This team was told by its coach (who quit) and the university leaders that it’s OK to be quitters. They’d lost their first 5 games, then the kid was killed, instead of using the loss of a teammate to inspire them into becoming winners, they canceled the next game, then moped about & lost another game, then quit.

Considering that a majority of our population is people from Gen X & downward, we have an American society that is predominately narcissistic whining babies who can’t handle stress or adversity, and who will quit rather than fight.

The fall of the American Empire may be coming eventually, as this is the same socio-political adversity the Roman Empire faced when it fell.
